Sidewalk Counseling Class on September 27

What a blessing to teach sidewalk counseling with Sarah Phelan, veteran St Petersburg sidewalk counselor. This class was attended by 15 pro-lifers who are eager to get out to the sidewalks and rescue those who are being led away to the slaughter! Thanks to Gulf Coast Community Church for hosting us.

Another Baby Saved!

ANOTHER BABY SAVED!!

Saturday, August 23rd was just like any other Saturday in St Petersburg.

Muggy. Hot. And relatively quiet early in the morning.

The All Women's Health Center abortion clinic (located at 4131 Central Avenue) alternates their times between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, in order to mix up the sidewalk counselors and others who regularly come out to pray.

Today was a “later” Saturday, and when I arrived on the sidewalk with the others, it was already hot.

About ten of us had gathered to pray, and at around 9:00, cars began
pulling into the parking lot.

We reached out to the first two “clients”, but to no avail. Both entered the clinic without taking any information.

A third car pulled in around 9:30. Inside a woman sat and waited.

She was alone.

This usually means she was there to “support” a friend, or she was waiting for one her friends to come and “support” her.

However, we could tell that she was there for an abortion. She seemed distressed as I tried to motion to her. She made no movements at all.

I fired off about 50 texts to my prayer team.

From all over the country, pro-lifers began to pray. Within minutes, she started the car and began backing up.

She rolled down the window and waved at me.

“I just changed my mind! I can't go through with this.”

What a blessing! I gave her some information about some local pregnancy centers and got her phone number.

We all began rejoicing right there in the Florida morning muggy.

Stay tuned for updates.

Please pray for “Katrina” as she gets the help that she needs, that she would give her life to Jesus, and that her baby can be raised in a godly home.

Sidewalk Counseling Class in August

Scott (bearded man with hat) was blessed this summer to teach two sidewalk counseling classes with 26 total in attendance. The first, held in July, had 16!! attendees. These classes equip pro-lifers with the “how-to” of sidewalk ministry.  We were so encouraged to have such a large turnout.

The class pictured above was held at the home of Brian and Anne Eide, during a Gulf Coast Community Church community group.

Sidewalk counselors are the last line of defense for the preborn and the last chance for the “good news of the gospel to go forth before women choose abortion.

Most, if not all, women who enter an abortion clinic do not know any Christians who could encourage them not to go inside.

Sadly, many women considering abortion either do not know of options like pro-life pregnancy centers or have access to any Christian counseling.

That is what makes the work of Florida Preborn Rescue so essential.

Our next sidewalk counseling class will be held on Saturday, September 27 at 10:00 a.m. at Gulf Coast Community Church in St Petersburg.

Proverbs 24:11-12
“Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter. If you say, “Behold, we did not know this,”   does not he who  weighs the heart perceive it?   Does not he who keeps watch over your soul know it, and will he not repay man according to his work?”

Pray for the closing of this clinic

Since 1975, this clinic on 4131 Central Avenue in St Petersburg has been murdering preborn children. Will you join me in praying to close to it down? Will you come with me to minister to the men and women who are considering abortion?

Florida Preborn Rescue on TV (April 5, 2014)

On Saturday April 5, I was blessed to be the guest on Porch Talk Radio on TV with Eddie Adams. Mr. Adams invited me on to talk about Florida Preborn Rescue. I have the uploaded the video to FPR youtube channel and to our social sites.

Mr. Adams has been a candidate for Congress in 2010 and 2012 and is an outspoken, pro-life conservative. I am thankful for his friendship and look forward to partnering together in the future.

The show was live on BrightHouse Networks here in the Tampa Bay area, cable channel 949.

The Story of Two Saves! (May 17, 2014)

On Saturday May 17, we were blessed to witness with our eyes the most recent save at the Central Avenue clinic in St Petersburg. As cars started pulling up, and women began entering the clinic, we called out with our usual greetings.  “Good morning, please take some information, we’re here to help you!” In the midst of all this calling out, a car pulled up next to the shrubs. In it, was a young black woman. She sat in her car for a very long time. We were not sure if she was there that morning to pick up someone, or if she was there to support a friend, or if she was there for an abortion.

As we were calling out to some other folks going inside the clinic, we noticed that she had opened her car door. As we got closer to her, we could see the tears on her face and felt the anguish on her heart. We began praying for her and calling out to God on her behalf. She told us that she did not want to have an abortion; she was really struggling with the decision. We continued to pray. I sent out instant texts to our team of supporters and friends and activated their prayers.

Get ready to shout Hallelujah! The girl (we’ll call her Wendy) went to to lunch with another sidewalk counselor who led her to Jesus right then and there. Wendy is now in touch with a local pregnancy center with Christian women who will love and care for her. Please continue to pray for her and check back for updates on my Facebook page or in newsletters to come.

Sidewalk counseling works, everyone! Join Scott J Mahurin and Florida Preborn Rescue so that we can have a voice every day on the sidewalks of St. Petersburg.

Finally....approval from the IRS! (April 5, 2014)

As of April 5, 2014, Florida Preborn Rescue is an officially recognized 501c3 non profit organization! Praise the LORD!

So True

This is my beloved. (April 5, 2014)

What is Sidewalk Counseling?

Sidewalk counseling is the last legal line of defense for the preborn.

A sidewalk counselor graciously offers help and assistance to women and men entering abortion facilities. This help can come in starting a conversation or offering help. Since we are not legally are allowed in the parking lot, we must stay on the sidewalk and call out to those entering the clinic.

We have information about the gospel of Jesus Christ, and alternatives to abortion. In St Petersburg, a pregnancy center (Mary’s Outreach for Women) is located directly across the street from the abortion clinic.

Sidewalk counselors do not judge or condemn. We realize that God is the judge, not us. We also realize that He has commanded us to go and reach the lost and those who are “stumbling toward slaughter” (Prov. 24:11-12).

We continue to see results here in St Petersburg. Our most recent save was on March 10, 2014. Last year, Florida Preborn Rescue offered help to 200 women. Over 30 took information, and three left the clinic without killing their babies. Glory to God!

Celebration of Life Tampa Bay 2014

The 2nd annual Celebration of Life Tampa Bay rally was held on February 7-8, 2014 in Clearwater, FL at Countryside Christian Center. Florida Preborn Rescue was blessed to be among over 40 vendors and groups that were represented.

Thank you all for your prayers for this event. Over 150 people came to the conference, and we were empowered and encouraged by speakers like David Bereit and Andy Merritt, pioneers in the pro-life movement.

Scott had the privilege of co-teaching a class on sidewalk counseling with Chris Gladu, Director of Helpers Tampa.

It was an honor to teach the basics of sidewalk counseling to about 30 people. I am especially grateful to the Diocese of St Petersburg and Tampa Bay Pro-Life Alliance for giving us the opportunity to talk about a subject that has so many misconceptions in the Christian community.

The Call to Rescue

The call to rescue the preborn is given in Scripture countless times, but the two most often quoted sections appear in Proverbs 24:11-12 and Prov. 31:8-9. In these passages, we are told to rescue those being led away to the slaughter, and to speak for those who have no voice.

So, who are those being led away to the slaughter? For whom do we speak? And to whom is this command given?

The preborn in the United States are being led away to the slaughter. Here in Florida, we have 69 abortion clinics, and over 400 babies are lost every day. This is the third highest total in the United States. In the Tampa Bay area alone, we have 10 abortion clinics. It is the preborn that we speak for; the preborn who are led away to destruction.

The command to go rescue is given to every Christian, to every lover of justice, to all who embrace life. All of us many not be called to go and stand at abortion clinics and preach, but everyone can pray, raise, awareness, promote the cause of life on social media, and share with others at our respective churches. The love of life should always be on our lips.

Since we have been rescued from death, we must rescue others.

Every Christian should consider donating to pro-life ministries like Florida Preborn Rescue. The call to rescue is clear, and I am seeking to answer the call. But I cannot do this on my own, I need your help. Babies are aborted every day in St Petersburg. Their moms and dads are desperate and need someone on the sidewalk to communicate the gospel and to save babies.

Will you stand with me? I want to be your voice on the sidewalk. Thank you for reading and for prayerfully considering becoming a financial supporter.
